Finding ourselves in time

Connecting with Ancestors and Future beings
A deep Ecology work-shop with Dearbhaile Bradley and Jane Sanders
October 11th-12th- Venue: Moorlinch Nr. Glastonbury
We have lost the perception of ourselves in time that our ancestors lived by– In today's society short term thinking rules the day. “More, more, more– now, now, now– faster, faster, faster” is the mantra.
‘ It is like being trapped in an ever-shrinking box, in which we race on a treadmill. The economy and its technologies depend on decisions made at lightning speed for short-term goals, cutting us off from nature's rhythms, and from the past and the future as well.
Marooned in the present, we are progressively blinded to the sheer on-goingness of time. Both the company of our ancestors and the claims of our descendants become less and less real to us.
This peculiar relation to time is inherently destructive of the quality and value of our lives, and of the living body of Earth. And it will intensify because the Industrial Growth Society is, in systems' terms, on exponential "runaway" - accelerating toward its own collapse.’ Joanna Macy
The aim of deep time work is to ‘re-set’ our inner time clocks to a saner rhythm, refreshing our spirits and finding our place in the wider evolutionary continuum.
In this two day workshop, we connect with the wisdom of the ancestors and the vision of future beings.
We do this to resource ourselves as we enter this present time of great uncertainty– which many are calling ‘The Great Turning’.
‘To make the transition to a life-sustaining society, we must retrieve that ancestral capacity - in other words, act like ancestors. We need to attune to longer, ecological rhythms and nourish a strong, felt connection with past and future generations.’ JM
Through this work, we start to see our own engagement in the changes taking place and can take in nourishment and inspiration for the road ahead.

'I am so grateful to now find myself in a position to share with others some of the experiences that I have found most deeply healing in my life. To locate myself in time radically changed my perspective on the world around me'

'As a painter I have been involved in a project for the last year painting portraits of elders. As I painted I realized that I was being nourished by connecting to the archetype of the elder. This was part of the inspiration for this week-end.'
